There are so many exotic DE blades out there, yet for me, Gillette blades are superior. I'm new to DE shaving. My beard is thick and coarse. I tried a sample pack, and found most blades were terrible for me. They cut me, or were not very sharp and didn't last more than 4 shaves. Gillette blades start out smooth, actually get better after a couple of shaves, and work well for one week. I can shave in my "normal" fashion, with or against the grain; it doesn't matter with these blades. Gillette 7 o'clock (green box) blades are also very good; I have both. I only cut myself if I am careless and drag the blade sideways. Also, I'm a thin guy, with a bony chin; no problem getting a close, yet safe shave with these blades.
These blades sell for up to $5 for 5 blades at other web sites.
AKA Gillette "Swedish" blades; but made in Russia.
Hint #1: Use a silver tip badger brush. Worth $60!

Great blades!!! I used em in a Mekur Slant Bar and WOW, baby face smooth :) I have a thick beard and sensetive skin and this blade gave me no issues. I used C.O. Bigellow and Taylor of Old Bond St. (separatly) cream. After three passes and an oil pass on the tricky areas with a mixture of Lanolin and Glycerine (50/50) A better shave than Mac 3 or Fusion :)

I got into DE shaving after getting tired of paying $15 for disposable cartridges. I bought a sampler pack of blades from a seller here on Amazon. The sample pack included 5 blades each of the following; Shark, Derby, Feather, Astra Super Platinum, Blubird, Gillette 7 o'clock super stainless and platinum. All of the blades either irritated my skin, got dull fast (2 passes max before razor burn), or didnt really cut well. I was feeling discouraged until I got down to the last pack of blades. I knew this was the blade for me after the first pass. It cut close and smooth. I felt no irritation on the second pass shaving across the grain. To my delight, the blade was still sharp enough to complete the third pass - against the grain. I got no razor burn or any skin irritation at all.
Do your self and face a favor and buy a sampler pack before buying your first blades because of all the high reviews. Everybody's face and beard is different. Overall, I am very pleased with...Read more
