Like anything, Men's frgrances can become passe. Original green bottle Polo screams 80's. I smell it and I think of middle aged guys with pants too tight.
Calvin Klein Obsession is so 90's and too, too musky. I still have them but I don't wear them anymore, like cargo pants and narrow ties. Chanel Allure was my last go to frgrance but it was bit androgynous. My new fragrance is Armani Acqua Di Gio. It has a clean balance of citrous and spice without being fussy. Chanel was a bit fussy, so was CK. Armani is not. It lasts a long time and smells great. Try it.
