I'm generally a lazy girl when it comes to bikini maintenance. I'd rather pay someone or go the quick trim route with some eyebrow scissors than get down and dirty with wax or razors myself, but I couldn't resist the offer to try a product like this. My first concern when I looked at the packaging for this product was that I'd lose all of my attachments. Like I said, I'm lazy. But after opening the kit I saw that there's a handy-dandy little carrying bag in which to put all your components. Score one for Bliss Spas. The whole kit packs up pretty nice and compact, which is nice if you're someone who travels a lot and wants to do some section maintenance on the go. This kit is also nice in that you don't just have to use it for down there, it works perfectly well for doing brows and other hairy areas as well. The device itself is cordless and easy to use. No muss, no fuss, hair control in a compact (and cute) package. I'd recommend this one to a friend. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful: Customer Rating: Summary: Lot of Options but don't throw away your other trimmers 2008-08-01 Comment: I really like the idea of having a multi-use tool. I am all for saving space and keeping the bathroom area clean. I was enthused therefore to look at the Bliss-Philips set. It comes organized in a handy blue bag. You simply interchange the heads on the device, which has a plug but can be run without it. It handles all your hair removal needs. What could be better? There are six different attachments for this. Now, they say six attachments, but really there are four. By default it has a flat shaver type attachment. You can use that "raw" or add on two different plastic guides that ensure only hair of a certain length reaches the shaver. While I appreciate the idea, for example for eyebrows, it is kludgy and doesn't work as well as a real eyebrow trimmer does. There are then two "trimmer" heads with zig-zag metal pieces which do the job for ears and bikini areas. The ear one is a little large for that area. So I'm really not sure that either of these would be any better than a regular razor for these tasks. This brings us to the attachment I was literally afraid to try. The epilator. This is a spinning set of discs which literally yanks hairs out - one by one - out of your body. This is PAINFUL. My boyfriend even volunteered to try it for me, since I didn't want to try it at first. He agrees on the pain quotient. I understand the theory - that if you rip hairs out by the roots they take a long while to grow back in. However, in practice, ripping hairs out one at a time in a very slow painful process just isn't right in my book. It's really not fair to blame the Bliss unit for this though. Any epilator is going to have this issue. I also find the super thin instruction booklet to be less than helpful. For a system meant to be used in a wet bathroom, printing the instructions on paper that will dissolve immediately if it gets damp seems odd. What is the end decision? It's a fairly expensive device when compared with other trimmers. It has lots of exchangeable heads but most are not as good as other devices which are really meant for their use. Still, if you're doing general use trimming on bikini areas, beards, or so on, it can be handy to have a unit like this which lets you try a number of different heads to get just the right look. So there is a niche where it is great - but I wouldn't throw away the other specialized trimmers in a desire to try to get this one to "suit all needs". 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome 2008-06-26 Comment: Loved how close this shaves! Finally able to have great eyebrows without a price tag! Women who shave anything would love this 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect for the bikini area 2008-06-20 Comment: When I started looking for a product to tame the bikini area I was really torn between this one and the Braun 5270 Silk-épil X'elle Body System Epilator. The Braun got slightly better reviews so I went for it. HUGE MISTAKE. First of all, it is awful for the bikini area. I lost skin and hair. Talk about pain! That item was returned ASAP. I personally bought this for the epilator feature. I am tired of the cost of waxing and the nair stuff just doesn't work all that well (for the record, I am a female and I like it ALL GONE). So, the trimmer/shaver is ok. Doesn't work all that great in the shower. The microtrimmer didn't work at all for me. The epiating feature is great though, much less pain than the braun. Does it hurt - yes, I mean, let's face it. You are ripping hair out by the root. If you have a low threshold for pain, then you need to start off slow. If you are used to the pain of waxing - I don't think you will find it is much more than what you had gotten using that process. The best tip I have is to do it after you bathe. I make the mistake of not doing that and did have some minor discomfort (like a sunburn) for a day or so. 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Customer Rating: Summary: My husband likes it more than I do 2008-06-19 Comment: I would have never guessed it from the product description, but my husband and I use this product equally. He has a beard and mustache, and this works great as a cordless trimmer. As for female uses, the epilator hurts just like you think it will. It's nice that the shaver is water resistant. The manual is cheap, but other than that this is a nice, if sometimes painful, product at a good price. | ||||||||||||||||||||
