I just got my razor and right out of the box it's clear that it's craftmenship is very high and the price is a steal. This is my first safety razor I have been using a straight razor so the shaving part is not much of an issue. By the look and feel I could tell quickly it was very well balanced, had good control, nice weight and a look that you will not believe. The picture isn't going to show you that. Now as for the shaving if your a first time saftey razor user like me it won't take long to get this down, I used a straight so I had no real problem and you should not either. Take your time let the razor do the work and get a nice close shave. Also the blades are real sharp, not to sharp but with easy use they get the job done. I would recommend this and about any E.J. product to a novice or long time wet shaver. Give it a try and see if you like it and if it works for you as well, I'm pleased with mine.

I started wet shaving in January 2011. At first I was put off by the initial investment, mainly the razor and the brush. So I did my research, narrowing my choices to this razor and the Merkur HD. I wanted a razor that was well made, easy for a beginner to use, dependable, and not too expensive. This was exactly what I expected and I'm completely satisfied.

The tipping point was the I could also get the matching Edwin Jagger 1ej947sds Traditional English Best Badger Hair Shaving Brush Faux Ivory Medium With Drip Stand, Ivory, Medium, which I think is an excellent brush and a bargain too. Plus, they look good side-by-side in my medicine cabinet. For a total of $70 or so for the razor, 5 blades, and the brush, I made the jump to wet shaving and I swear I'll never go back to the multi-blade cartridges and pressurized goo. The...Read more

I am happy i got this razor, been hearing good things about it in all the shaving forums and reviews on YouTube.
Price is good, it is shipped with Derbies blades, which are great blades. the razor is just heavy enough to glide over the face and cut your whiskers, but not too heavy so you wont feel uncomfortable using it. This is a 3 part razor, so be careful replacing the blades as you need to screw back the handle on top of the blade. it is build great and the ivory handle is a beautiful, this is something i can pass on to my son!

P.S i am using Proraso with a Boar brush which i highly recomed getting if you dont already have it.
