I've had this bottle laying around for about 7 years. I normally use a safety razor, but when I grow a beard or goatee, I use an electric. Using this lotion, I get a nice, fairly close shave, my skin feels soft, and virtually NO razor burn.

BUT, I think most of these negative reviewers here are not reading the instructions, or using common sense. I had to chuckle when I read the Eric Juillerat review below- he is letting the stuff set on his face for 15 minutes!? Others say that it creates to much "drag"?

The directions say "To use, apply a thin layer to a slightly moist face and neck before shaving, rubbing gently to penetrate whiskers. Let dry for 10-15 SECONDS. Shave with electric razor."

The key here is to NOT let it dry. DUH! Truth be told, I've never actually tried another product like this. I never felt the need. I like the way this works. I use fairly warm water to moisten my face and neck (wet to the touch, but not running down),...Read more

I've been using preshave with electric razors for so many years and I've gone through many brand and generics names. I wanted something new, and so decided to try Jack Black...even though it didn't have great reviews and the price per ounce was much higher that typical. I have to say that I'm very disappointed.
It is over formulated and over priced. It has about 25 ingredients! not sure why so complicated. It doesn't make the hair slick for the electric razor. The gel seems to leave a residue that is more oily and sticky and the razor doesn't glide over the skin and hair smoothly...so it doesn't give a close and smooth shave...which also leads to razor burns.
It is way over priced (probably because of all the ingredients they stuffed in the bottle)...and it doesn't work.
From time to time I change brands to see whats out there. However, I wouldn't buy this brand anymore and I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

Awesome. Leaves my face somewhat moisturized after my shave. Softens skin before the shave and feels great.
