This is a VERY attractive piece to add to your wet-shaving kit, albeit impractical for the tall cylindrical col. conk soaps Ive grown to love, at first. If you can tolerate waiting until your soap cylinders decrease in volume, or manually cut down your soaps, this dish is A-OK.
Otherwise, spend a little more money on something else that simplifies the process.

Exactly what I was looking for,

This is a really nice shaving soap dish, it is well made, very attractive, doesn't take up much space, and is very functional for men who still shave with a brush. For the price this dish is outstanding. I got it as a gift, but plan to get one as a gift for my nephew. Included with the gift was a Nickel Shaving Brush Holder, which was well made and which I also give five stars.

This is a very nice bowl. Thats really all this is. A wooden bowl! So if you looking for a wooden bowl this is the one for you! As far as the soap pucks not fitting. Take a soap puck chop it up into little pieces put it into a container that you dont mind being soapy. Microwave it for about a minute or until its melted. Pour it in your nice new wooden bowl and you are now rocking out a bowl with soap in it that also closes. It looks and works great. You also dont feel like a monkey training for NASA trying to figure out a the square peg round hole puzzle.
