An Efficient Pre-Electric Shave Lotion,

This liquid is well formulated to cause facial hair to slightly stand out in readiness for an electric shave. There are also ingedients in "Williams Lectric Shave" that have a soothing and medicinal effect on the face, and greatly reduce the irritation that would accrue from a raw shave. Skin irritation, the probability of ingrown hairs, and emergence of acne pimples is all reduced. The lotion allows for a closer, smoother, comfortable shave. I have tried several other pre-shaving lotions, but I have ended up sticking to "Williams" for very many years. But you should also consider that skin texture and vulnerability varies from person to person. A skin product that irritates one person may be wonderful for another.

OK, here is the situation. I recently switched back from blade shaving to electric and needed somthing to help with the irritation I get from dry electric shaving. Out of 3 different products (Afta, CVS pre-shave, and Williams Lectric) this one is the best I have used. When you apply it, it coats the skin with some kind of oil or other slick substance that helps the shaver glide over the skin, but at the same time keeps it from getting red and irritated. Yes you'll have to wash it off afterwards but it says so on the directions anyway, so don't gripe about it. The only issue you might have is that the shaved hair kind of clumps a bit between the razor heads, but as long as you brush it out after at least every other shave you'll be fine. Unlike other reviews, I don't know what the "original" scent was like so I have no way to compare the two, but this one is fine for me. Just realize that when you first apply it, there will be a strong scent of alcohol for a few seconds, but it goes...Read more

For those who need a pre-electric for shaving (I do), Williams is still the standard. Provides the right amount of lubrication (for face and shaver), a pleasant scent, and a more comfortable - and closer - shave (for me) than just "dry." Other pre-shaves have been 1) TOO dry (too much alcohol), 2) too smelly, or 3) more irritating. Faces are all unique - YMMV, but Williams has been around since 1946 (developed and marketed by the J. B. Williams Co. in Glastonbury, CT - also the patent originator in 1840 of the first manufactured shaving soap for use in a mug; an interesting piece of historic trivia). Likely a few million faces have used and liked Williams over the last 65 years, and there's probably a reason for its longevity.
