This is absolutely the best modern production (i.e. not vintage Gillette) double edge safety razor available for the price. I ordered it somewhat on a lark... I was going on a business trip and rather than hassle with the TSA questioning my DE gear, I ordered this razor and had it shipped ahead to my hotel using Prime.
The head is a heavy cast base metal with acceptable finish quality, much better than I expected given the price. The handle is machined aluminum and somewhat lighter weight that I am accustomed to. Together, the head and handle make for an unassuming combination that probably wouldn't excite many shaving aficionados.
When you load up a blade and start to shave is when this razor will immediately impress. The curve of the head allows you to instantly find the proper blade angle with minimal adjustment... it's a much more natural and instant occurrence than with vintage Gillette Techs and TTOs. The weight of the cast head on the lighter aluminum...Read more

The Lord 1822L really is a good safety razor. And I say that having just about used them all, from vintage Gillettes to modern Merkur and Edwin Jagger/Muhle models. It's got a cutting head modeled after a Merkur (though it holds the blade ever so slightly differently than a Merkur) and a long, hollow aluminum handle. For $10, build quality is very good. The head pieces are solid and fit together snugly, in the correct manner, so you won't have to worry about flimsy head pieces or incorrect blade exposure as you might with other value-priced razors. The aluminum handle is well made, and its added length makes the razor perfectly balanced in the hand; whereas some razors are "head-heavy" Lord has avoided that with this model. So all in all, with this design at this price point, Lord should be commended.
Since this isn't a luxury tool, don't be surprised to see plating imperfections on the cutting head. They're simply cosmetic flaws, to be expected in something like...Read more

Incredible shave!,

Anybody looking for a good cheap DE razor can do so much worse than the Lord L6. I never tried the L5 with the Tech head, but the 'hype' about the L6 with the Merkur-esque head is entirely justified. Feedback, agility, smoothness - I got a way better shave than with my vintage Superspeed the very first time I used it, and with a blade with 3 shaves on it! Build quality is a bit ghetto, but the performance is really first rate. You can spend a lot more money and not get a better shave than from the LORD!
