Merkur Heavy Duty Safety Razor with Slant Bar-#198- Made in Germany

This is a great product. If you're reading this, you're well aware that our forefathers had it right.

PROS: It will last for years and as far as upkeep: the refills are VERY inexpensive (compared to most of what's available at the corner pharmacy). No more (plastic garbage) cartridges at $14 for ten! It takes a few minutes more to shave. Fast grooming is overrated. Take your time.

CONS: Initial investment is a little spendy. To get your skin really silky smooth, you have to go against the grain a bit, which is a trick under the nose. As with any new razor type, it takes a few days for your sensitive skin to adjust.

A few things to remember: no more looong strokes from under the chin all the way up to below the eye; that'll get you nicks and cuts. Better short little motions.

This is a great safety razor! The slight slant causes the razor to move across the face like the straight razor did. It provides a barber shop quality shave, without the nicks! Truly reminds me of the days of closely shaving with a straight razor. The handle is a little short, but it that makes it easy to pack for travel.

If you are looking for the perfect razor, the Merkur Slant Bar is for you. Please be warned, if you are new to shaving with a double edge razor, don't get a Slant. It is definitely for an experienced shaver. That said, if you have the experience and want to try something for that baby butt smooth shave, this is the one. Be happy. Give it a try.
