This review is from: Philips Norelco T510 Beard/Mustache Trimmer (Electronics) I have the previous version of this trimmer...or maybe it is a more expensive version. That one has lasted for years but finally an errant drop broke the battery cover. This was bought as a replacement. The power and cutting is similar (actually, a bit better with the fresh sharp blades.) However, the older model had a twist adjustment on the cutting height. That adjustment had more settings and stayed put. This one just uses friction to snap into different positions and it has less settings. If you aren't careful you can snap it into a wrong position, or move the head and suddenly you aren't getting the cut you planned. I'm trying to figure out if I can graft the two together, so I have the adjustment of the old one coupled with the new blades and fixed battery door.
As for the overall tool, it is powerful enough to cut hair as long as it isn't too thick. If you are starting out with long hair you need to whack it back with scissors first, then follow with this...Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Philips Norelco T510 Beard/Mustache Trimmer (Electronics) I had a model of this and used it for 12 years for mustache. It had some exposure to water (for cleaning)and I would say it is more durable than it looks. The best thing I like about it is its ergonomics. I can't figure out how to use it if it was shaped some other way like some brands out there. I don't particularly like the springy comb part. Its purpose is to give some cushion against the skin but the whole device is so light I don't see any need for that feature. Also this new comb sleve's adjustment is sloppy. If you use no. 1 setting, it's okay. Be careful if you adjust to no.2 or 3. My old one has a solid comb sleve (no springy part) so I had to use that. This old sleve fits perfect in the new trimmer and it snaps perfect in any of the numbered adjustments. So Philips Norelco, my suggestion is to bring back the old sleve or add it to the package as accessory. By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good battery life and easy to pack. Quick shipment and very happy with the product. |
