The Norelco arcitec 1060X is an excellent razor.

Now, it's important to remember that opinions about shaving are similar to religious beliefs; they're fanatically held, and believers seem willing do fight to the death on behalf of their favorite system. The variance we see in razor reviews is no doubt caused by the individuality in our faces. This means that every razor review-- including this one-- is very much an individual, personal opinion. I do think that some people are unhappy with their electric razors mostly because they don't prepare their faces well. It's critically important to avoid moisture because it swells up the whiskers, and they won't fit into the little holes or slots on the razor's head. A smooth, dry face definitely increases the chances for a good, comfortable shave.

When I first got the Norelco Arcitec I was not very favorably impressed. I had been usint top-of-the-line Brauns for many years. But the more recent Brauns, using so-called "Gillette technology", did not give me a comfortable shave. They frequently pulled and even cut my face, especially when I had not shaved for 2 or 3 days. The Norelco is much more comfortable -- no pulling or nicking -- and has replaced the Brauns. The working area of the new Norelco is much larger than previous models, thus I can get a good shave more quickly. It is true, however, that the Brauns give a closer shave. But I now believe that "closeness" is an over-rated virtue, so I will use the Norelco to obtain a quicker and more comfortable shave.

I am going to try to keep this short and simple. Every time I shave with this razor I feel it gets worse and worse. Yes, I have cleaned it since purchasing it almost 6 months ago. I had previously owned a Norelco Quad Action, which I used for about 13 years or more. I never had a problem with it and am regretting switching but assumed technology has improved since then and it was time for an upgrade. So I dished out a $150 and bought the Norelco 1060XDB Arcitec, assuming it was a good quality razor and worth the money. This has to be one of the worse investments ever. My face feels like I dumped acid on it every time I finish, not to mention it doesn't cut in certain areas and for the areas it does, I have to go over it many of times. My old razor cut smoother and faster than this, by far. Listen to me on this, do not buy this razor. It feels super cheap as well and to be honest, the free little travel razor they include in the package cuts better than the Arcitec. Also,...Read more
