Product Description
Offering a 360 degree swiveling shaving head and a state-of-the art sleek design, arcitec is the most advanced Philips Norelco shaver yet. Compared to other Philips Norelco shavers, arcitec offers new flex & pivot technology, a more aerodynamic design, and an advanced tube trimmer.
The unique flex & pivot technology delivers an exceptionally close shave. Three individually flexing shaving heads are connected by a ball joint system making them swivel, rotate, and pivot with a full range of motion. The maneuverability allows arcitec to adjust to the contours of your face ensuring optimum skin contact and a closer shave -- even on the neck. The new arcitec Shaver is designed to push the boundaries of shaving and to conquer those hard to shave areas.
The arcitec 1060X comes encased in a sophisticated silver chrome shell. Drawing inspiration from scientific and specialized instruments, this shaver is built with high density, lightweight materials. You know you are shaving with something extraordinary.
Cutting edge innovation doesn't stop with the shaver. Now you can recharge your shaver while you store it, with the Power Pod travel case that plugs into the wall and protects your investment. While at home, you can recharge your razor in its sleek stand and show off this modern addition to your bathroom shelf.
For those sideburns, goatees and moustaches, the new patented precision tube trimmer cuts hairs closer to the skin. This improved performance is due to the tube cutting system moving back and forth capturing every hair. All of these improvements and new introductions make it possible for you to conquer your neck to look and feel your best! Chart your course with the new Philips Norelco arcitec and be confident you're getting a perfectly close shave -- even on the neck.

Summary: great razor! 2010-08-10
Comment: So far, so good. I've had this razor for about a month now and have nothing negative to report. It gives a great shave, easy to clean, very light, holds a charge well. I just re-charged it for the first time a couple of days age, even though it did not need it yet. The razor is kind of expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Comment: The product i buy was a deluxe edition with the travel razor includes, but this device not it was delivered. only i received de main razor arcitec
Comment: I am going to try to keep this short and simple. Every time I shave with this razor I feel it gets worse and worse. Yes, I have cleaned it since purchasing it almost 6 months ago. I had previously owned a Norelco Quad Action, which I used for about 13 years or more. I never had a problem with it and am regretting switching but assumed technology has improved since then and it was time for an upgrade. So I dished out a $150 and bought the Norelco 1060XDB Arcitec, assuming it was a good quality razor and worth the money. This has to be one of the worse investments ever. My face feels like I dumped acid on it every time I finish, not to mention it doesn't cut in certain areas and for the areas it does, I have to go over it many of times. My old razor cut smoother and faster than this, by far. Listen to me on this, do not buy this razor. It feels super cheap as well and to be honest, the free little travel razor they include in the package cuts better than the Arcitec. Also, being that I am past the 45 day return policy for this razor, Philips pretty much told me to go fly a kite. I only asked for an exchange on the phone with Philips, not a return, figuring maybe the design was bad for my face and needed to go back to my old style. In addition, a friend of mine also has an Arcitec and says it's horrible, complete garbage. I am digging my old razor out now and using that. If you know anyone that wants an expensive razor for nothing, let me know.

Summary: An excellent razor 2010-06-09
Comment: The Norelco arcitec 1060X is an excellent razor.
Now, it's important to remember that opinions about shaving are similar to religious beliefs; they're fanatically held, and believers seem willing do fight to the death on behalf of their favorite system. The variance we see in razor reviews is no doubt caused by the individuality in our faces. This means that every razor review-- including this one-- is very much an individual, personal opinion. I do think that some people are unhappy with their electric razors mostly because they don't prepare their faces well. It's critically important to avoid moisture because it swells up the whiskers, and they won't fit into the little holes or slots on the razor's head. A smooth, dry face definitely increases the chances for a good, comfortable shave.
With that in mind, I've used various blade systems-- most recently the Gillette Fusion-- and several electric razors-- most recently the Braun 8595-- over the years. Of all of them, I like the Norelco arcitec 1060X best.
The shave it provides is very comfortable and uniform, better than what I could get with the Braun. The famous Norelco "floating head" system on this shaver conforms very well to the curves on my face. In about five minutes, I can get a close, uniform shave with no razor burn. In addition, the Norelco is very light weight-- almost startlingly so-- and very quiet. I can actually shave without cranking up the volume on my radio.
One of the best features of the Norelco is the ease of cleaning. The whiskers are trapped in little cups underneath the three cutting heads, and after each shave, you simply flip up the cutting heads and rinse everything off with hot water. The Braun is a "self-cleaning" system that requires regular replacement of a cleaning fluid reservoir. It's somewhat pricey and definitely messy. The instruction manual for the Norelco says that the cutter heads need to be replaced once a year, but I haven't had it long enough to know whether my mileage will vary.
The 1060X comes with a "Power Pod." This is actually a hard-shell carrying case that holds the razor and cleaning brush and doubles as a charger. This is great for travel, since it protects the razor. In fact, it's necessary for extended travel, because there's no way to run the razor directly off of the power cord. For home recharging and storage, there's a very nice looking stand the power cord plugs into.
There is a higher-cost version of this razor, the arcitec 1090X, but the only real difference is the display that shows the battery status and need for cleaning. I personally don't think the spiffier display justifies the difference in cost.
The bottom line for me is that the Norelco arcitec 1060X is a well-built, easy-to-use machine that delivers a very good shave and requires minimal upkeep. I like it a lot, and if I had to buy another razor today, I'd buy this one again without any hesitation.
