This is essentially Proraso repackaged. The product packaging does read that it's made exclusively by Proraso for C.O. Bigelow. The 10 dollar price here is exactly what I paid for the very same product in this 5.2 oz tube at Bath and Body Works. For years I've done what most guys these days have done...I paid for canned chemical foam for 94 cents a pop, and for all those years my shave was just as cheap as the can it came in. The C.O Bigelow Shave Cream is a superior product that produces a great lather and a bracing feeling on the skin because of the menthol and eucalyptus. Made by Proraso, the C.O. Bigelow shave cream seems to be, if not identical to the Proraso, so close in composition, performance and overall skin feeling that I can tell no difference between the two. It is one of the best shaving creams I have had the pleasure of using. It's best used with a brush which enables you to get a beautiful thick lather. But I have also applied it directly to my wet face. Just a small amount directly to the skin and then later with fingertips will also give you a perfectly acceptable shave. Highly recommended.

I had a difficult time giving this product a three star rating. Everyone I've ever heard talk about just raved about it, so I assumed I would like it too. So here's the review:

This product does indeed whip up a really nice rich lather, and does so very quickly compared to other soaps and creams I've used. The lather provides really exceptional lubrication, and my shave was close and smooth while using this product.

The scent was nothing special. It smelled very similar to the cream that my local barber shop uses - just sort of like soap or powder or something. The menthol was also fairly prominent in the scent, which was the main problem I had with the cream. The product is so heavily mentholated that it was almost unbearable. The effect was like vick's vapo-rub; the menthol got into my nose, lungs, and eyes.
