Summary: Best, most durable blade I've ever used 2008-11-11
Comment: At the time of writing, I've used everything Gillette up through fusion and everything Shick up through this.

If there are newer blades from either brand out there, the reason that I don't know is that for the last 10 (ten!) months I have shaved several times a week on the same, single Quattro Titanium cartridge.

I have gotten continuously close shaves, without burn or bumping, and I'm shutting it down for the winter now and growing a beard.

It's possible that this blade was an exception, so I will probably start up in the spring on the same blade, just in case. If not, I have good reason to hope that I will get similar performance out of the next one.

So, that's why I would take time out of my busy life to write a review about a razor cartridge on the internet. This is truly an amazing product.

Summary: Better than Fusion, better than Mach 3 2008-07-14
Comment: The Schick Quattro Titanium is the first razor that has ever made me consider buying anything by Schick. The word "titanium" has some resonance with a lot of guys -- heck, it's a really strong, durable metal! Coating it onto razor blades almost makes too much sense...so Schick jumped at the opportunity and made a really outstanding product.

Aesthetics: 4 stars. Schick recently (as of this writing) updated the handle and blade designs for the Quattro Titanium. The handle now resembles the handle design of the Gillette Fusion (albeit slightly smaller). The change in blade design is where the Quattro has lost a bit of ground in my opinion. They removed a pre-moisturizing strip that was located before the blades, changed the design of the rubber prep strip to a 'microfin' strip, and decreased the size of the moisturizing strip located after the blades. They also added a trimmer blade, which now seems to make the blades slightly harder to clean in running water. To me, their old blade design was one of the big selling points because it provided a clear alternative to the fairly standardized Gillette blade design. THAT BEING SAID, it is still a much more favorable choice than the Fusion or Mach 3 in terms of design, simply because it's a no-frills razor that has all the features a man needs in a razor handle and blade. Not any design overkill, but not lacking in any area either.

The shave: 5 stars. One will be hard-pressed to find a better shave than the Quattro Titanium. The blades provided a very close shave that felt extremely comfortable. This is an area where the Quattro design really shines. The blades have small wires which go over the front of the blades in several places. This does not affect the shave at all, in terms of closeness...instead, it actually aids in preventing nicks and cuts by keeping the blades from digging into the skin. In my experience with the Quattro Titanium, I can only remember one cut -- and it was time to change the blade anyway. Excellent shave.

Durability: 4 stars. Quattro blades last just as long as any other brand-name blades I have ever used. The big advantage with the Quattro is the cost of replacement blades. They are typically $2 to $7 cheaper than the same quantity of Gillette's replacement blades. That means big savings.

Overall: Highly recommended. This is a razor that almost anyone could enjoy, even those with sensitive skin (the wires really help with that). Even people who swear by Gillette blades would be really surprised by the performance of this razor.

UPDATE: After using the 'updated' Shick Quattro Titanium for several months, I am giving it up. I now rate this razor around 3 stars simply for the durability of the new blades. These things give out on me after one shave...meaning that the first shave is great and matches up with my above review, but shaves #2 and on with the same blade are irritating with a great deal of drag.

Summary: Gets the job done 2008-04-07
Comment: Most people will simply compare the Shick Quattro Titanium to the Gillette Mach 5. It's an apt comparison. The end result is that either will work just fine for most people. So far these Quattro Titanium cartridges have worked well for me, even with my fairly sensitive skin. A proper shaving routine with a fairly fresh, sharp razor will make a huge difference, and these stay sharp for an extra shave or two longer, it seems, in my own personal experience. Then again I don't have a terribly heavy beard, either, so your mileage may vary.

Summary: Best razor I've ever used!! 2008-03-17
Comment: I have tried almost every razor out there. Most recently I have been trying Gillette models. The mach 3 used to give a decent shave, but I noticed that I would have to shave more often. Then I tried the Mach 3 turbo. The vibration is a total gimmick and the blades literally stay sharp for about a week...huge waste of money!!!

I decided to research other blades and came across the Schick Quattro Titanium on Amazon. I was a little skeptical about how close the shave would be since the blades are covered with wires. What a difference!! The blades stay sharp for over a month and my wife has noticed that I don't have as much razor burn as before. I actually look forward to shaving with this razor, and I have my wife feel how close it gets each time I shave. Great razor....I will NEVER waste my money on another Gillette product!

Summary: Close shave... maybe TOO close 2007-11-26
Comment: These blades will deliver a close shave, but I have found that they will also remove some skin when pressure is applied. The blades have tiny guard strips that should prevent this, but they don't. I am not convinced that more blades equals a better overall shave.
