I purchased Smooth Away shortly after it was first available in stores, hoping to use it on my legs so that I could stop shaving every day. I have a back injury that makes bending to shave difficult/painful, so the less time I have to spend in that position the better. I first tried it on my arms, and was impressed with how quickly it removed the hair on my arms and how soft my skin felt. My arms are not very hairy, but I love the feel of the smooth hairless skin. On to my legs...I tried it on them when I had approximately 4 days regrowth from shaving, and was hugely disappointed. It didn't really do anything, so I just kept on shaving and used it on my arms until I was out of pads, but never repurchased.

I had forgotten how much I love these pads! This method of hair removal has been around for years and years but this version is the best by far. The applicator mitt is super comfortable and super easy to use. I have very dark, coarse hair and it works great for me.
To get the best results it's important that you follow the instructions very closely. I've found that the skin does have to be dry and clean (no lotion). It helps if you hold the skin taut while applying light pressure to buff the area with the hair removal pad.
I like this method because I find it's less messy than using hair removal creams or shaving cream and razors. While it's not the quickest way to remove hair from, say, both legs, I seem to get better results than with other methods. And I'm not confined to the bathroom. Also, removing some of the dead skin cells is an added bonus.

I have tried hair removal cream, waxing kits, cold wax strips, bleaching powder, plucking with tweezers and nothing has worked well enough for me to not always be on the lookout for another solution. I have very faint hair above my upper lip, but pesky,coarse individual hairs on my chin and under my chin that drive me nuts. Until now, waxing was the best method, but even that wasn't foolproof and the microwaveable wax seems to take a long time to melt and is fairly expensive if you consider how many uses you get out of one small container. Plus with waxing, you're supposed to pull from the opposite direction that the hairs are growing. For some reason, the hairs below my skin seem to grow in different directions (like a swirl), so this isn't possible.
I also tried a Sally Hansen "Brazilian" style hair removal creme that was supposed to be acceptable for the face and it burned my upper lip and chin. So that leaves tweezing and I often end up with irritated welts on the skin...Read more
