No way this razor is shave ready for anyone with a tough beard. It could shave my arm hair, but could barely touch my beard. I bought this because a Mach III wears out after two or three shaves and I wanted the vaunted baby-butt-smooth reputation of a premium straight razor. Even when it was honed to pass the "dangling hair test" it could hardly touch my whiskers. A man with a tough beard will not likely be happy with this.

This razor is well worth the price. I purchased one of these as a travel razor. It is 100% stainless and requires a minimal amount of work to maintain. Some people claim that stainless steel is difficult to sharpen, however, it is mildly more difficult than carbon steel at best. The hone keeps very well on this razor. I reccomend this razor to anyone, and would reccomend a stainless dovo blade for any beginner.

This is a very nice razor... A bit on the expensive side, but it does come shave ready out of the box.
