The best clipper for short hair, and trimmer for short beards I've used. The cordless version works well for clipping hair and trimming beards. There is a corded version, Wahl Peanut Palm Size Clipper/Trimmer 8655, that works equally well, without the cordless convenience of mobility and travel. It comes with combs for sizes 1, 2, 3 and 4 and trims to nearly bald with no comb attached. Flip it around with no comb attached and it is perfect for trimming beards to scruff. There is nothing close to this and the 8655.

UPDATE- it actually performs well using regular AA batteries, they just need to be new and changed frequently for best performance. When either rechargeable or regular batteries are low, the motor might get "stuck" if clipper pushed too "deep" too fast.

I travel quite a bit and needed a portable cordless clipper to trim my very short hair.
I've tried quite a few other multifunction clippers/trimmers and they all failed to do the job on the head. I also used Wahl "Professional" corded clipper, which performed very well, but it would only work on 110v, was big and heavy and obviously had a cord which was a nuisance to use especially in shared bathrooms, often without power outlets, etc

So I decided to try this cordless clipper mainly because it's in the "Professional" product line.

Since this unit is called "Peanut Palm-Size" I was a bit worried that it would be under powered and/or cheaply made - but I was pleasantly surprised! I love this little booger. It's small, fits the hand, easy to maneuver . . . but powerful. I also had never heard of a clipper that was powered by a single double A battery. Would it be powerful enough on one little battery? You betcha! And even though neither the product photo nor the 'product includes:' portion mentioned a thing about including a battery - it arrived with TWO Rechargeable AA batteries, and a charger . . . a nice surprise. It also uses any kind of AA's, which is nice if you should be traveling and get caught without a charger, just pick up a cheap AA battery and you're in business.
